Dear Cedarbrook K-8 Center Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back to another exciting school year! I hope this letter finds you and your family relaxed and ready for the new academic year. As your principal, I am thrilled to welcome all returning families and extend a special greeting to those who are new to our community. We are honored to have you with us and are committed to making your transition as smooth and welcoming as possible.
Over the summer, our dedicated staff has been hard at work preparing for the arrival of our students. We have updated our curriculum, enhanced our facilities, and integrated new technologies to support and enrich the learning experiences of all our students. We are excited to share these improvements and innovations with you.
We are committed to maintaining open and transparent communication with our community. We encourage you to stay engaged and involved by attending school events, participating in parent-teacher conferences, and joining our Parent and Teacher Together Organization. Your involvement is vital to our success and the success of our students.
Students will walk through our doors for the first time on Thursday, September 5th at 8:05am. Dismissal will be at 12:30 p.m. for the first two (2) days of school. Starting Monday, September 9, 2024, we will resume our regular dismissal time of 2:35 p.m. Students eating breakfast will be allowed in at 7:30am. There will be no parents allowed inside of the building. As a reminder: The latest your child will be dismissed for an “early pickup” will be 1:30pm. There will be no students dismissed after 1:30 p.m. We have found that the constant early dismissals are very intrusive and destructive to the learning environment.
For the parents of our newest students, our Kindergarteners, we will have in-person Kindergarten Orientation on Thursday, August 29th in our cafetorium, please enter through Door 19 on Central Avenue, beginning at 10:00am. Families will receive important information from their child’s teacher and the administrative team. Also, on Thursday, August 29th we will have our Open House for ALL families from 11:00am - 2:00pm in the Gym. Come meet your new administrators, tour the building and learn about the exciting preparations for the upcoming school year.
Lastly, as a reminder the Board of Education adopted the uniform policy 5132.1 on May 19, 2009. It was revised on November 20, 2018. We will be enforcing the uniform policy to the fullest in the upcoming school year. Cedarbrook K-8 Center’s uniforms are Navy Blue pants, slacks, jumpers or skirts with White, Light Blue, or Navy Blue shirts, polos or skirts. Navy Blue sweaters or vests are acceptable. Students in Grades 6-8 only may wear Khaki pants, skirts, and jumpers in addition to the Navy Blue.
I thank you once again for your anticipated cooperation for the upcoming school year. I am excited about our opportunity to work collaboratively with you to provide the best educational experiences for our students.
Sincerely,
Tenisha L. Fort
Principal
